Engaging safely and effectively with perpetrators of domestic abuse

14:00 – 15:00

Evidence shows that the majority of domestic abuse perpetrators are men who tend to ‘specialise’ in violence, abuse and coercive control of their partners. However, they do not necessarily come across as violent to professionals. This session will explore:

  • Questions and resources to help identify who is doing what to whom
  • The importance of recognising patterns of behaviour as it is rarely just the one-off incident that drew the perpetrator to your attention
  • Techniques to engage perpetrators
  • The range of domestic violence perpetrator interventions available, how they work and how they help as part of the coordinated community response
