Domestic abuse: safe in accommodation duty inclusion project in Surrey

10/11/2022 14:15 - 15:15

This workshop will focus on a two-year pilot project on the statutory safe in accommodation duty set out in Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and how this has been approached through partnership working in Surrey.

Service provision gaps have been identified for adult males, LGBTQ+ and Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Communities. This workshop will outline the challenges involved in setting up the Inclusion Project and what has been achieved through partnership working. It will touch on the barriers to inclusion for people who can’t access mainstream refuge as well as a brief look at how a trauma-informed approach works for supporting people who have experienced domestic abuse.

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn how collaborative working with professionals is key to providing refuge service provision for diverse groups.
  • Explore how and where to refer to refuge and what refuge looks like
