Social work in a public inquiry: learning from the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse

10/13/2021 14:15 - 15:15

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) is investigating institutional responses to CSA, while also providing victims and survivors with the opportunity to share their experiences and be heard, through its Truth Project.

In this session, its two social workers provide an overview of the findings from IICSA’s investigations, Truth Project and research reports, the government’s responses to these and plans for the future.

They will also discuss the trauma-informed approach they take to working with victims and survivors. Attend this session to understand:

  • The work of IICSA and its potential implications for future practice.
  • What it’s like to be a social worker working inside a public inquiry.
  • The trauma-informed approach taken to working with victims and survivors, and its implications for safeguarding.
