A relationship-based approach to adolescent mental health

10/14/2020 11:30 - 12:30

Young people may be less at risk of severe Covid-19 symptoms, but the pandemic has significantly disrupted their lives and is having major impacts on their mental health and wellbeing.

This masterclass will showcase the work of the Hope Service.  It’s a unique service to Surrey, for young people with complex mental health, emotional and behavioural needs.  It is built on a relationship-based model, providing young people and their families with the support they need, when they need it.  Speakers will share with you some of the inspiring stories of young people and families who reached out to the Hope Service and how, by building relationships, it was able to make a real difference to their lives.

In this masterclass, speakers will share how Surrey County Council's partnership with the Hope service improved practice, with a focus on:

·         Taking a relationship-based approach with young people and families.

·         Multidisciplinary work in supporting adolescents with complex mental health needs.

·         Evidence-based practice and evaluation to develop skills and make effective and timely interventions.
