Understanding autism in women: a personal story

10/14/2020 15:00 - 16:00

Following a decade of caring for her mother with dementia, Ju became acutely unwell, her mother died, her academic career in social work ended and in May 2017 she was declared missing. Ju will be sharing her experience of being a missing person in London, the process of ‘becoming lost’ and how her subsequent diagnosis of autism aged 56 has been pivotal in her recovery. While she wouldn't describe herself as an expert in autism, Ju will be sharing a very personal narrative that offers insight into the impact of having lived her life without the knowledge of her own neuro-diverse profile. Her story will challenge the stereotype and raise questions about autistic expression and mental health.

This is a pre-recorded session.
